YouTube video, esp.You might be wondering - How do i encode all those Blu-rays i got into x for storage? You can easily encode any movies into x or even other formats i. As of today, the latest version of Handbrake v1. You are set to go. The same problem comes when using 10 or bits videos, there are not many devices that play those videos. Furthermore, it takes so much RAM to encode those videos.

Matt Gadient also made BITs comparison page between 8, 10 and 12 bit encodes. Compared to x, encoding x files requires a lot of processing power to encode which will provide you with a smaller file with amazing quality.
Overall, the only benefit with x is smaller size. With the price of storage devices getting lower, i would recommend you guys to just stick with x when trying to encode and stick with x releases as to save internet bandwidth.
I think this is the best well-explained EQ tutorial ever made, it would be a shame for it to go to waste. I hope readers will benefit from this guide. Hello as the topic states im trying to encode to x 10 bit with handbrake but shortly after starting the queue it finishes with error and encodes nothing. Anyone know what im doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Handbrake can't do 10bit, end of story. I suppose your a developer working on the team building the program right? If you dont got anything helpful to say go Troll somewhere else, because if you knew what the hell you were talking about you would know the official site says they support it.
What OS are you using? What HandBrake version? Where did you get the 10 bit x library and how did you attempt to "install" it? I'm on Win 7 x64, installed HandBrake 1. Started up HandBrake, selected the 10 bit x encoder and started the encode. It just worked no problem. Im using Windows 10 64 Bit and i got the files from the official x 10 Bit Handbrake forums that i linked. I then choose the X 10 Bit option from the drop down menu in handbrake and chose the options that i wanted, but shortly after trying to encode it showed these errors in the log and stopped.
Did you set any of the "Extra Options" for x? If so it sounds like the log already told you what you have to fix exactly. If not I'd report to the devs. Nope didnt set any extra options but weird thing is if i try to encode to just x not 10 bit i run into no problems at all. I guess you need to use an additional x DLL of the same interface version as the built-in encoder in Handbrake ; if not, the encoder core in the DLL will misinterpret the set of parameters passed by the encoder in Handbrake.
Well possible you may have to go back in history and try different older DLL versions until one matches. And I believe you have to use the "Extra Options" at least to add "-D 10". Except the encoder selection supports that already. Originally Posted by LigH.

Is there a specific profile setting needed to get x 10 bit to work aside from picking it in the drop down menu? I can reproduce the error only if I download an older.
So it would be like LigH suspected and. Notice that in the HandBrake forum thread there are multiple versions. Awesome that solved the problem. Looks like i was using a old lib file from that was causing the problem. I often use Handbrake: it works very well. I enjoy the Nvenc acceleration for H I would like Handbrake has an acceleration too for H 10bit Nvenc or anaother one because I sometimes need 12 or more hours to encode a long video in UHD.
Thank you. QuickSync 10bit is supported on newer hardware but note, HandBrake engine is only 8bit so benefits are very minimal. It's a pretty major overhaul. When that's done, we can turn on the 10bit support on NVEnc as well. Skip to content. Typically you can spot the better encode by looking for sharper detail on faces and fabrics such as shirts; less blocking in blurred backgrounds or other smooth gradient areas; and fewer artefacts. The frames that follow are x crops of the full x frame. They are not downscaled in any way.
My custom preset delivers significantly improved fine detail, less background blocking, and better clarity during moving scenes. It should be noted here that my custom H. The source does have higher quality throughout, though with a file size around three times larger. Here you can see the difference between the two best presets in my opinion: x Medium and my custom H.
There is very little difference in visual quality, with a slight advantage to H. When playing back the video, the differences between the two are practically indistinguishable. This is a great result for HEVC, as it exhibits nearly identical quality in a file less than half the size. If anything, Medium is slightly better quality when displaying facial detail, at a smaller bitrate. Medium has a small advantage in fine still detail here, and slightly less blocking, at a significantly smaller file size.
By extension, Ultrafast encodes are also inferior to Medium encodes, although they take less than half the time to encode. And just in case you were wondering how the HEVC Medium encode compares to the original, these are the comparisons for you.
For the best comparisons, check out the archive that includes every scene I used above for every encode in high-quality images.
